About Anchored Marine Construction

Three Generations on the Water

Anchored Marine Construction is a family-owned and operated marine construction company serving Anne Arundel County and the surrounding Maryland waterways.

Our family brings three generations and a combined 35 years of hands-on experience working with boats, boat lifts, and the waterfront properties that depend on them.

Meet Josh Jacobs, Owner

Before starting Anchored Marine, Josh spent 11 years working at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, most of it in the submarine detection group. There, he designed, built, and tested equipment deployed from Navy vessels — work that took him out to sea for months at a time, operating heavy machinery like cranes, excavators, and winches.

He later spent time in Hopkins' Space Department building satellites, a job that couldn't have looked more different: cleanroom conditions and tolerances far tighter than anything he'd worked with at sea.

Josh leveraged this unique combination of expertise — heavy equipment and precision engineering, open water and controlled environments — when he founded Anchored Marine Construction in 2018. Such proficiencies show up in the way we approach every project: materials chosen for the long haul and installations engineered to fit the site in front of us rather than forced from a standard kit.

All Hands on Deck

Anchored Marine Construction is a true family affair. Josh and his wife share duties in day-to-day business operations, while his father, Mike, manufactures Up and Out Boat Lifts through J.B. Machine Parts & Supply, Inc. in Pasadena, MD. In addition to manufacturing one of the leading lift brands installed and maintained by Anchored Marine, the machine shop also stands ready to fabricate or weld any part our team may need when not available off the shelf.

Similarly, Josh's sister Brianne oversees Waterway Design, a Pasadena-based marine permitting company, and handles permitting for Anchored Marine full-time — her expertise is trusted enough that other local contractors lean on her for permitting help, too.

The Crews Who Make It Happen

In the field, our work is carried out by three dedicated 3-man crews. We keep a tight schedule and stay in constant contact with our customers — something we are frequently told is not the norm with other marine contractors.

We've taken care to build strong relationships with the local marinas we work alongside. It's not unusual for a customer to be so impressed with a crew's work that they'll request that same team again for a future job. We go out of our way to make that happen whenever possible.

Rooted in Anne Arundel County

Our family has made a deliberate choice to stay local, providing quality craftsmanship right here on the waterways we know best. That focus lets us build the kind of long-term relationships with customers and marinas that we're proud to serve.
